Sainte-Claire plant
Sainte-Claire, August 22nd 2024 - Plastique Art, a specialist in optimized thermoforming solutions, is proud to announce major investments in its Sainte-Claire plant. These strategic investments will enable the company to increase its production capacity and support its long-term growth.
The project calls for a 4,200 sq. ft. expansion, bringing the plant's total surface area to 30,000 sq. ft. The investment will also allow for the acquisition of a new thermoforming machine and a 5-axis CNC machining center, enabling the company to double its production capacity for large parts.
Plastique Art and thermoforming in high demand
Since 2021, Plastique Art has doubled its revenues to reach the highest production levels in its history. In response to the growing demand for its products, especially for large parts, Plastique Art has planned an investment project that will enable it to respond effectively to its customers' requests.
Initiative supported by Quebec and the Government of Canada
The project represents an investment of $3 million, and is supported by the Government of Quebec, Investissement Québec and the Government of Canada, through Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED). CED has awarded Plastique Art a repayable financial contribution of $375,000 under its Regional Economic Growth through Innovation program.
Plastique Art's initiative is part of a long-term growth plan designed to increase the company's competitiveness. “This project represents a crucial step for Plastique Art, laying the foundations to support an ambitious goal of doubling revenues again. We are convinced that these investments will enable us to maintain our leadership in thermoforming in Quebec,” said Pascal Baillargeon, President of Plastique Art.
''Manufacturing companies need to invest more to increase productivity and continue to grow. More modern facilities with automated equipment will enable Plastique Art to stand out and meet market needs.'' Pierre Fitzgibbon, Minister of the Economy, Innovation and Energy, Minister responsible for Regional Economic Development and Minister responsible for the Metropolis and the Montreal Region
''By supporting Plastique Art, we're helping a local company stand out from the crowd, while contributing to the economic development of the Bellechasse RCM. The entire region will benefit from the spin-offs generated by the activities of this leader in the plastics industry.'' Stéphanie Lachance, MNA for Bellechasse, Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister responsible for Government Administration and Chair of the Conseil du trésor (State Efficiency and Governance)
''Investissement Québec is pleased to support Plastique Art's expansion and modernization project. By focusing on new technologies and continuous improvement for more than 65 years, the company is giving itself the means to increase its production capacity, meet the demand of its customers throughout North America and achieve its growth objectives.'' Bicha Ngo, President and CEO of Investissement Québec.
“SMEs are at the heart of our communities and our economic growth. Thanks to CED’s support, we are helping these businesses not only to enhance their productivity and competitiveness, but also to generate positive economic spin-offs. Congratulations to the entire Plastique Art team on this project and on helping to showcase the Chaudière-Appalaches region.” The Honourable Soraya Martinez Ferrada, Minister of Tourism and Minister responsible for CED

Cutting-edge technologies for enhanced performance
The integration of new equipment is part of a standardization and modernization strategy. Plastique Art wishes to maintain a machine park that incorporates the latest molding and cutting technologies.
Standardization of the machine park will make it easier to train new employees and optimize working methods. What's more, the investments made will enable the company to guarantee the highest quality standards in its industry.
An optimized production
Purchasing new equipment will enable Plastique Art to smooth production, reduce delivery times, and double its production capacity for large parts up to 2 metres by 3 metres.
The plant expansion is also an opportunity to optimize production flow, improve efficiency and save storage space. “I'd like to thank the entire team who is actively involved in moving the machines, without interrupting the production, so that we can receive the new machines in autumn 2024,” concludes Pascal Baillargeon.
A three-phase investment :
Expansion: production space increased by 20%.
Equipment: a thermoforming machine and a 5-axis CNC machining center.
Productivity: process optimization and the possibility of eventually increasing production capacity by 70%.
